Each year, designers of all kinds anxiously await the announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year, knowing well that the chosen hue will shortly work its way onto runways, clothing racks, and, if you’re in our line of business, home design.
We’re thrilled to announce that the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year is Living Coral, and we think the smart folks at Pantone describe the hue best:
“Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment […] Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression. Representing the fusion of modern life, PANTONE Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media.”
Living Coral is a fantastic way to bring a lively tone straight from nature into your living spaces. Scroll on for three ways we incorporated the Pantone Color of the Year into recent projects and don’t miss our shoppable coral selects!
Isn’t this the dreamiest room you’ve ever seen? Custom designed with a few very special little ladies in mind, it gives us the straight-up heart eyes every time we revisit. We used Living Coral as a welcome pop of color in an otherwise subdued color palette. Cotton sateen drapery nearly touches the vaulted ceiling for an added dose of drama, inviting your eyes up to the stunning vintage chandelier.
A Playful Punch
When it comes to haute new colors, there’s no need to fully commit! Test the waters by selecting art and accessories that boast a hint of the hue and spend time determining whether it complements your current scheme. As evidenced by the dining room below, coral expertly weaves a sense of vibrancy into a clean, streamlined palette, creating moments of visual excitement. And in case you haven’t noticed, it’s the perfect complement to gold-toned hardware!
Bouncing Off The Walls
Last, but certainly not least, is this stunning dining room featuring custom paneled walls, adorned in the Pantone Color of the Year with a rose-gold sheen. The panels are filled with a hand-painted, Chinoiserie-style mural, created by the amazing artisans at Segreto Finishes, with delicate birds to represent each member of our client’s family. It’s a true work of coral-colored art beautifully complemented by the deep blue silk drapery that surrounds.
