It’s official – our bags are packed and we’re headed west! Over the past nine months we’ve had the pleasure of working with Whitney Port and her beautiful family on the remodel of their new Studio City home, and we can’t believe install day is finally upon us. From behind-the-scenes peeks at Whitney’s gorgeous home to details from all of our La La Land adventures, we hope you’ll join us next week for this exciting journey. For now, scroll on for a look at our latest itinerary…
PS – Know of a hidden gem we’d be silly to skip? Drop us a note below and we’ll add it to our list!
Bites and Bevvies
Iconic Chateau Marmont is obviously at the top of our list! Quoted by Architectural Digest as “a real-life version of Rick’s cafe in Casa Blanca,” it’s simply too good to pass up. Designed by architect William Douglas Lee, we can’t wait to see the many ways this hotel draws inspiration from Chateau d’Amboise, a royal retreat in France’s Loire Valley. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s got that undeniable spice of Old Hollywood glamour and we can’t help but wonder what those walls would say if they could talk…
ALFRED COFFEE & KITCHEN
Coffee, rinse, repeat. These girls don’t go anywhere without their caffeine and we hear there’s no better place to get a steaming cup o’ joe than Alfred Coffee & Kitchen! With uniforms crafted by Rag & Bone and coffee served in an ice cream cone, it’s gonna’ be tough to drag us away.
TERRONI LOS ANGELES
Terroni, founded by two best friends, began as a grocery store that sold southern Italian staples and authentic cappuccinos (yeah, we’re still talking about coffee). To everyone’s delight, they expanded and now serve full-course meals! We hear the pizza is to-die-for, and have no doubt its cheesy goodness will be the perfect reward after a long install day.
Located in the West Hollywood Design District, CATCH LA offers up delectable bites with a view of The Hills and Downtown LA that’s seriously on point. Can’t wait to perch up on that rooftop and enjoy!
Shop Til You Drop
As far as we’re concerned, Formations can do no wrong, and we’re excited to see the showroom Holly Hunt once called “the most beautiful showroom in the industry!”
With over 150 artisans, woodworkers, finishers and gilders, all based on a creative partnership that has stood the test of time, we can’t wait to get our hands on a few of their signature pieces.
As much as we love art and furniture, we simply can’t resist dropping into Violet Grey for a beauty pick-me-up. With best-in-class products that stand up to the “Violet Code“, there’s no doubt that our bags will be heavier when wheels hit down in Houston!
Added perk – their storefront is just as gorgeous as the treasures they carry!
PORTOLA PAINTS & GLAZES
Yes, you can shop paint and we can’t wait to swing by Portola Paints & Glazes to see our new friends Jamie & Casey Davis! These two tastemakers are changing the paint game, “drawing inspiration from their artistic pursuits, their extensive travels, and the vibrant Southern California landscape they call home.” They blend colors by hand, offer an extensive variety of finishes, including an exclusive Lime Wash coating, and can create customized palettes for anyone super picky about their paints (that includes us!) We actually used Portola in Whitney’s home and we’re pumped to see how it all looks in person!
Stop and Smell the Roses
LA FLOWER MARKET
We can’t wait to share more images of Whitney’s home but, until then, we’ve got floral-inspired concept boards to tide you over! We’re heading to the LA Flower Market to pick out some fresh beauties prior to install, and discovered that it’s one of the oldest and largest markets in the United States. Founded in 1919, it offers over 125 floral varieties and serves as an historic Los Angeles landmark! Now, we’re not the gambling kind but to make the assumption that we’ll be sharing this experience on Insta is a pretty safe bet…
As you can see, we’re opting for lush greens with subtle pops of orange for a fresh, joyful spring vibe.
With scents that are laid-back, complex, and sensual, ORRIS serves as the storefront for Capsule Parfumerie, a small-batch, LA-based fragrance house. With a curated selection of handmade fragrances, this premier perfumery is acclaimed for bottling the essence of Los Angeles. How’s that for a unique way to take a piece of LA back home to Texas?
Gotta’ jet but drop us a note below with the names of any spots we missed and we’ll be sure to add them to our list!
